Office of Resource Management
Ensuring that food is a vehicle for wellness is the vision of the FDA’s Human Foods Program (HFP). It is our mission to protect and promote the health and wellness of people through science-based approaches to prevent foodborne illness, reduce diet-related chronic disease and ensure chemicals in food are safe.
The Office of Resource Management (ORM) supports this mission by providing guidance and leadership in the analysis, development, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of administrative management activities and policies. The Resource Management Office coordinates HFP operations related to budget, financial, human capital, security, safety, and laboratory safety and health programs.
This office comprises:
- Division of Budget and Planning
- Division of Workforce Management
- Division of Information Technology Management
- Division of Safety and Facilities Management
- Division of Travel Management and Operations Support
- Division of Management Support and Analysis
What We Do
- Coordinate management operations, administrative, budget, and financial activities, and coordinate training and development for the HFP program areas and organizations.
- Strategically allocate HFP resources based on public health risk assessment, prioritization, and evaluation decisions.
- Produce actionable analyses of existing and contemplated resources that support HFP work, both to improve internal management and to better inform external stakeholders.
- Provide HFP support functions including personal property management and accountability, office and laboratory space management, mail and courier services, printing and reproduction services, and conference room services.
- Perform management studies, internal controls assessments and evaluations, and special studies of key issues relative to administrative and financial policy review, compliance and oversight.
- Provide centralized expertise and coordination of all Information Technology (IT), Records Management and Scientific Computing activities for the HFP.
