Sridhar Mantha

Sridhar (Sri) Mantha is the FDA’s Acting Chief Information Officer (CIO). In this role, he sets and leads the agency’s Information Technology (IT) strategy, as well as the enterprise IT, data management and cybersecurity strategies within the Office of Digital Transformation.

Mr. Mantha most recently served as director of the Office of Strategic Programs (OSP) in the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), overseeing strategy development, program management, advanced analytics, and informatics for CDER's regulatory processes. Prior to that role he served as director of the Office of Business Informatics in OSP where he led and coordinated informatics activities across CDER. He has been instrumental in building strategic partnerships with CDER clients and translating business priorities into informatics solutions. Mr. Mantha also previously served as the center’s associate deputy chief information officer.

Since May 2025, he has been leading multiple agency-wide consolidation initiatives and has delivered the first ever FDA wide GenAI capabilities with the rollout of Elsa for users across the agency.

Mr. Mantha is an accomplished leader with a background in engineering and experience in informatics in the bio-pharmaceutical industry. Before joining the FDA, he served in various leadership positions in the private sector, with a focus on global operations for post-market surveillance and quality assurance.  

He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from G. Pulla Reddy Engineering College in India, a master’s degree in environmental systems engineering from Clemson University, a master’s degree in business administration from University of Virginia Darden School of Business, and master’s degree in data science from Eastern University.
