Deputy Commissioner for Technology and Artificial Intelligence - Office of the Commissioner
Jared Seehafer is FDA's first Deputy Commissioner for Technology and Artificial Intelligence. In this role, he serves as the agency's senior executive for technology, software, and artificial intelligence and establishes FDA-wide strategy and priorities in these areas.
Mr. Seehafer brings two decades of technical and leadership experience at the intersection of software, AI, and medical technology. Since joining FDA in 2025, he has served as Senior Advisor in the Office of Policy, Legislation, and International Affairs, working on cross-cutting policy matters involving medical devices, software, and AI. Before coming to FDA, he was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Enzyme Corporation, a quality and regulatory software and services company, which he led for eight years through its acquisition. Earlier, he led the combination product regulatory consulting practice at Suttons Creek, Inc., advising major biopharmaceutical companies on the development and approval of drug-device combination products, and held engineering and product development roles at St. Jude Medical (now Abbott) and Medtronic.
Mr. Seehafer holds a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a Master of Science in Medical Device and Diagnostic Engineering from the University of Southern California, and the Regulatory Affairs Certification (RAC).
