Since 2018, FDA has sponsored an annual Fellows Appreciation Day ceremony to recognize and honor FDA Fellows, highlight the importance of fellowship programs and the direct impact fellows research has on advancing the mission of regulatory science research across the Agency. This ceremony is a cross-center collaboration that is coordinated by the Fellows Appreciation Day Planning Committee, an Agency-wide group. The event features a welcome message by FDA Chief Scientist, remarks by the Commissioner of Food and Drugs, and various scientific and motivational talks by FDA leaders, as well as fellows’ networking activities. This event is attended by STEM precollege students, recent graduates, and postdoctoral fellows.

FDA Fellows Appreciation Day is held the same week in September that the U.S. House of Representatives, in 2010, officially recognized as National Postdoc Appreciation Week to validate the significant contributions postdoctoral scholars make to U.S. research and innovation.
