FDA Fellows Association (FFA)

The FDA Fellows Association serves as a community at the FDA which represents the interests of all FDA fellows, including Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) postdoctoral and post-baccalaureate fellows, Staff Fellows, Visiting Fellows, Commissioner's Fellows, postdoctoral and post baccalaureate fellows, and Service Fellows by providing training, experiential rotations, and networking opportunities during their tenures at the FDA.

FDA Fellows Association Charter

The FDA Fellows Association (FFA) serves as a community to represent the interests of all FDA fellows, including Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) postdoctoral and post-baccalaureate fellows, Staff Fellows, Visiting Fellows, and Commissioner's Fellows. Members of FFA will provide fellow representation on relevant FDA committees, agreed to by the FFA and FDA leadership. The FFA is part of the FDA training infrastructure. The FFA works to foster cooperation and collaboration among FDA fellows, assist in promoting scientific communication between fellows and with the FDA scientific community at large, and provide information (in coordination with the FDA Office of Scientific Professional Development) on career and professional development for fellows. Once per quarter, the FFA Co-Chairs provides an update on the Association's activities to the FDA Senior Science Council.

Membership

FFA meetings are held monthly and are open to all FDA fellows who wish to participate. The main cabinet (Co-Chairs, Secretary, Social Liaison, and Treasurer) are elected by a simple majority of those present. Fellows must obtain approval from their supervisors to serve as cabinet members.

Committee Representation

The FFA elects representatives to attend meetings of FDA organizations that have been agreed upon as relevant and appropriate for fellow representation. These representatives are elected from the FDA fellows community at large and report back on committee activities at FFA meetings.

Activities

Career development activities include seminars of general interest to early career scientists, as well as information on FDA career pathways. The association also participates in any FDA-wide scientific forums and poster sessions and plans activities to help strengthen communication in the fellows community.
