|Sodium acetate||2 g|
|MgSO4 (anhydrous)||0.2 g|
|Ammonium phosphate||1 g|
|Bromthymol blue||0.08 g|
|Distilled water||1 liter|
Add all ingredients except MgSO4 to 1 liter distilled water. Heat to boiling with stirring. Add MgSO4 and adjust pH. Dispense 8 ml portions into 16 × 150 mm tubes. Autoclave 15 min at 121°C. Incline tubes to obtain 5 cm slant. Final pH, 6.7.
NOTE: This medium contains a slightly smaller concentration of acetate than the formula recommended in Ewing (1986).
