BAM Media M20a: Blood Agar Base

Infusion from beef heart 500 g
Tryptose 10 g
NaCl 5 g
Agar 15 g
Sheep blood
(sterile, defibrinated)
50 ml
Distilled water 1 liter

Suspend ingredients except blood to dissolve. Autoclave 15 min at 121°C. Cool to 45-50°C. Add 50 ml blood (room temperature), and mix. Dispense into sterile petri dishes. Final pH, 6.8 ± 0.2.
