Bacteriological Analytical Manual

Bile Esculin Agar

Beef extract3 g
Peptone5 g
Esculin1 g
Oxgall40 g
Ferric citrate0.5 g
Agar15 g
Distilled water1 liter

Heat with agitation to dissolve. Dispense into tubes, autoclave 15 min at 121°C, and slant until solidified. Final pH, 6.6 ± 0.2.
