First Certification Body Accredited Under FDA’s Third-Party Program

On August 23, 2018, American National Standards Institute (ANSI) notified the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that Perry Johnson Registrars Food Safety, Inc. of Troy, MI has become the first certification body (CB) to be accredited under FDA’s Accredited Third-Party Certification Program for the following program scopes: Produce Safety; Preventive Controls for Human Food; Juice HACCP, and Seafood HACCP.
This accreditation means that Perry Johnson Registrars Food Safety, Inc. has been given the authority to conduct food safety audits and issue food and facility certifications.
Certifications issued by CB’s accredited through FDA’s Accredited Third Party Certification Program can be used by importers to establish eligibility for participation in the Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP), and in certain circumstances FDA can require that imported products be certified before entering the United States.
