Dr. Raul Trbojevich obtained a master's degree and a Ph.D. from the National University of Rosario in Rosario, Argentina. His Ph.D. thesis was on the synthesis of nanoparticles, characterization, and its application for new materials science. Dr. Trbojevich was a teaching assistant in the Department of Physics-Mathematics at the School of Biochemical and Pharmaceutical Science at the National University of Rosario and an associate professor for the Department of Physics and Chemistry at Argentina Catholic University, Rosario. He then worked at the Research Center and Superior Studies at Argentina Catholic University, College of Chemistry and Engineering as a research scientist. Dr. Trbojevich became a postdoctoral fellow at the International Institute for Nanotechnology (Department of Mechanical Engineering), at Northwestern University in Evanston, Il. Dr. Trbojevich has experience in analytical chemistry and spectroscopic techniques – ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction, Raman, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), ultrahigh pressure liquid chromatography (UPLC), gas chromatography spectrometry (GC-MS-MS), and scanning electron microscopy. He has also worked in pharmaceutical formulations development.

Dr. Trbojevich has received the following honors and awards:

  • Award: Scientific and Technology Development, International Junior Chamber, Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina (1992)
  • Fellowship: Catholic College of Chemistry and Engineering, Fray Rogelio Bacon, Argentina Catholic University (1986-1992)

Research Interests

Dr. Trbojevich is skilled in developing new analytical chemistry methods for identification and quantitation of chemical compounds in inorganic, organic, and complex biological samples. His research supports ICP-MS, HPLC, UPLC, GC-MS-MS, UV-Vis, and fluorescence spectroscopy. Dr. Trbojevich is experienced with other spectroscopy techniques, including FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy, and NMR spectroscopy.

In the area of nanotechnology, Dr. Trbojevich has expertise in the wet chemical synthesis of metals and semiconductor nanoparticles, and their characterization for new material science applications.
