Guidance for Industry: Reference Amounts Customarily Consumed (List of Products for Each Product Category) March 2018

Final
Docket Number:
FDA-2016-D-4098
Issued by:
Guidance Issuing Office
Human Foods Program

The purpose of this guidance is to provide examples of products that belong in each of the product categories included in the tables of Reference Amounts Customarily Consumed (RACCs) per Eating Occasion established in 21 CFR 101.12(b).

This guidance will help industry identify the product category to which specific products belong, but is not meant to provide an all-inclusive list of products that are available on the market for each product category.

FDA's guidance documents, including this guidance, do not establish legally enforceable responsibilities.

Instead, guidances describe our current thinking on a topic and should be viewed only as recommendations, unless specific regulatory or statutory requirements are cited. The use of the word should in FDA guidances means that something is suggested or recommended, but not required.
