Division of Residue Chemistry 

Biography 

Dr. Bell is a staff fellow and a principal investigator with the Division of Residue Chemistry in the Office of Applied Science at FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM). He received his BS in chemistry from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), and his PhD in chemistry from the University of Florida. He initially came to the FDA in 2019 as an ORISE Fellow, then joined as a staff fellow in 2021. His primary responsibilities at CVM include conducting and coordinating research on the development and evaluation for analytical methods for drug residues and environmental contaminants in animal-related matrices. He also functions as a contracting officer representative (COR) for the division, assisting with service contract establishment and management. 

Research 

Laboratory evaluation of analytical methods in support of new animal drug approval. Analytical method development for drug residues and environmental contaminants in animal tissues and fluids using a combination of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry.
