How We Conduct One Health Monitoring and Investigation

The health of humans, animals, and the environment is interconnected. The One Health approach to public health addresses challenges with this inter-connection at the forefront.

The development of antimicrobial resistance is a public health challenge that impacts human, animal, and environmental health. The National Antimicrobial Resistance Monitoring System (NARMS) program takes a One Health approach to addressing antimicrobial resistance.

The Veterinary Laboratory Investigation and Response Network (Vet-LIRN) takes a One Health approach as it investigates animal illnesses for potential links to animal food or drugs.
