Find a Docket
In the search area of the regulations.gov home page:
- Type Docket ID, (e.g., FDA-XXXX-X-XXXX) in the search box and enter or click the "Search" button.
- You may also search by keywords (include Docket title, Center, Topic, etc.).
- Narrow search results by filtering results by "Comment Period," "Document Type," "Comment Due," "Agency," "Category," and "Docket Type."
- Show number of "results per page," "view results by list or table," and "sort by" (select from drop-down menu). Best options to sort by are Document ID A-Z and Title A-Z.

Historical to Present FRs: GPO Federal Register Database (1994 to present)
Generate a list of the FDA Federal Register documents open for public comment
- Go to regulations.gov
- Click on "Documents" under search box.
- Filter results by selecting the following options:
- Document Type
- Posted Date
- Comment Due Date
- Agency
Utilize sorting features to showcase results per page, view results by list or table. The best option to sort is using "Title A-Z."
Submit an Electronic Comment
To find a docket on regulations.gov and submit an electronic comment:
- Go to regulations.gov.
- Enter the Docket ID (FDA-XXXX-X-XXXX) in the "Search" box.
- Click on the "Documents" tab to identify the document/document ID that is open for commenting and select the live "Comment" button.
- Complete comment form to include opting in to receiving email confirmation containing the tracking number associated with comment.
- Click "Submit Comment."
