Neuroscience Advancement and Innovation Nexus (NAIN)
FDA is taking action to accelerate Neuroscience Medical Product Development
The Neuroscience Advancement and Innovation Nexus (NAIN) is an FDA initiative designed to strengthen coordination across the Agency's medical product centers and foster innovation in the development of medical products for diseases and conditions affecting the brain and nervous system.
NAIN brings together scientific and regulatory expertise from FDA's Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), and Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH). Regulatory review and decisions on individual submissions will remain with the appropriate FDA medical product center.
As its first area of focus, NAIN has initiated the Alzheimer's Prevention Accelerator, an effort to advance the science, tools, and regulatory approaches needed to support the development of medical products intended to prevent or delay the onset or progression of cognitive decline due to Alzheimer's.
