Information on Miacalcin (calcitonin-salmon)

Miacalcin, available as an injection and as a nasal spray, is a calcitonin-salmon medication used for the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis in women greater than 5 years postmenopause when alternative treatments are not suitable. Miacalcin injection is also used for the early treatment of hypercalcemic emergencies; and for the treatment of symptomatic Paget’s disease of bone in patients with moderate to severe disease when alternative treatments are not suitable.
