Standards for the Growing, Harvesting, Packing, and Holding of Produce for Human Consumption Relating to Agricultural Water (Proposed Rule) Preliminary Regulatory Impact Analysis

The proposed rule, if finalized, will replace the current water testing provisions for pre-harvest agricultural water used in direct application on non-sprout covered produce with provisions for an annual pre-harvest agricultural water assessment in which farms using pre-harvest agricultural water for non-sprout covered produce will holistically evaluate potential hazards that may impact their water sources. Benefits of the proposed rule are illnesses averted; costs of the proposed rule include costs of conducting assessments, mitigation, and recordkeeping.
