CTP’s Progress Addressing Recommendations from the Reagan-Udall Evaluation – Summer 2024

On July 3, CTP shared its ongoing efforts to address the evaluation of the center by an independent expert panel facilitated by the Reagan-Udall Foundation (RUF). The comprehensive list of status updates for each recommendation is available at the updated webpage, Actions to Address Recommendations from the Reagan-Udall Evaluation of CTP. Notable progress since February’s update includes:
- In March, FDA launched the Searchable Tobacco Products Database, with further technical updates released in May.
- In April, FDA began a phased approach to release regulatory science policy memos, with a subsequent release in May.
- In June, FDA and the U.S. Department of Justice announced the creation of a federal multi-agency task force to combat the illegal distribution and sale of e-cigarettes.
- On June 26, FDA held a TPSAC meeting to discuss the renewal of a risk modification order, submitted by Swedish Match USA, Inc. for General Snus products.
