OMHHE REACH Health Equity Training Program
The Racial & Ethnic Minority Acceleration Consortium for Health Equity (REACH) consists of multiple organizations that work closely with the FDA Office of Minority Health and Health Equity (OMHHE) to strengthen and advance minority health and health equity-focused research, outreach, and communications, as well as support training and mentoring of students, fellows, and/or researchers from diverse communities.
The REACH Health Equity training program offers educational opportunities to help student researchers increase their understanding of health equity challenges and advance their skills to conduct research to meet those challenges and advance minority health and health equity.
Our approach to education and training.
OMHHE’s Health Equity training program prepares trainees with critical health equity skills by providing a rich learning experience through mentorships, professional development, and research methodology skill development (e.g., survey and focus group methodology). During their time in the program, trainees will be exposed to the medical product development processes that facilitate the delivery of drugs, biologics, and devices and gain insights into the FDA's regulatory framework. The trainees will be mentored by FDA scientists and by the completion of the program, they will be positioned to contribute to work that advances health equity, public health, and regulatory decision-making.
