FDA’s Division of Drug Information in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) is excited to present a series of educational webinars targeting the needs of all health care professionals and students, including physicians, physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians. Interact with FDA staff from a variety of divisions and learn more about the FDA and drug regulation!
On Tuesday, January 19, 2021, CDER's Office of Communication, Division of Drug Information (DDI) hosted a webinar titled: FDA Drug Topics: Biosimilar and Interchangeable Biological Products: An Updated Review of Scientific Concepts and Practical Resources. This webinar provided an intermediate overview of the scientific concepts about biological products and the scientific and regulatory basis for the biosimilar pathway. The webinar built on past biosimilar webinars and further explored the science of biological molecules, including size, complexity, and structure. In addition, we reviewed practical information regarding the use of these products, such as labeling, terminology, and pharmacy substitution. To enhance understanding, we reviewed a case study to highlight the data that can support biosimilarity. This webinar also demonstrated the functionality of the enhanced Purple Book resource that is available to health care professionals.
The Adobe Connect room for this webinar can accommodate 1500 participants. If the room is full when you attempt to enter, please note that the recording of the webinar will be available on our Division of Drug Information Webinars webpage later this week and will also be available as a Home Study course providing CE credit in a few weeks.
