Help More Providers Prescribe with Confidence
Prescribe with Confidence is an educational campaign that helps health care providers recognize and treat opioid use disorder (OUD). OUD is a chronic, treatable health condition, and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) can save lives.
The campaign provides information and resources to help health care providers identify OUD, talk with patients about treatment, and prescribe MOUD when appropriate.
In alignment with the Great American Recovery Initiative, the campaign aims to increase the number of health care providers who can recognize OUD and provide evidence-based treatment, including prescribing MOUD when appropriate.
Prescribe with Confidence was developed by FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research with input and support from:
- Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMSHA)
- National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institutes of Health (NIDA)
- National Rural Health Association (NRHA)
- Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS)
- Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention CDC
- Reagan-Udall Foundation (RUF) for the FDA
- American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)
