CTP Announces Selection of Associate Director for Policy and Partnerships

March 27, 2024

CTP is pleased to announce that Natasha Phelps, J.D., has been selected as the Center’s Associate Director for Policy and Partnerships. Ms. Phelps comes to CTP and FDA from The Center for Black Health & Equity, where she has served as the Director of Equity-Centered Policies.

As the Director of Equity-Centered Policies at The Center for Black Health & Equity, Ms. Phelps directed work on equity-centered law and policy on a local, state, and federal level by leading a team of policy managers and other staff in collaboration with external public health, public interest, and health industry partners. Prior to this role, Ms. Phelps spent five years at the Public Health Law Center as Lead Senior Staff Attorney where she specialized in commercial tobacco law and policy. Ms. Phelps received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Legal Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She received her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Ms. Phelps was selected after an extensive nationwide search, multiple interview panels that evaluated a well-qualified applicant pool, and clearance through important FDA ethics and security processes. Ms. Phelps joins the Center’s senior leadership team in this role effective May 6, 2024.

Please join us in welcoming Ms. Phelps to CTP as she works to support the Center’s critical mission to make tobacco-related death and disease part of our nation's past by ensuring a healthier future and advancing health equity for those living in the United States.
