ORA on the Frontlines: Darren S. Brown

Darren S. Brown, Consumer Safety Officer, Office of Pharmaceutical Quality 

Darren Brown

As a consumer safety officer, I help ensure our drug supply chain is safe and that safety standards are maintained by conducting inspections of drug manufacturing plants around the world. I have helped monitor the supply chain for critical drugs and with industry to prevent drug shortages in order to further the FDA mission in support of COVID-19. During this pandemic, millions of Americans came together to sacrifice their livelihood and wellbeing for the love of others. They did this to mitigate the spread of the virus by staying home and limiting interactions with other people for an extended period of time. Then there are people who risk their lives everyday doing the work that we consider ordinary. I hope that we will be able to look back on this time and truly appreciate the sacrifices made by people around the world.
