Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Kennedy, HHS and the FDA have proposed a rule that would require food manufacturers to notify the agency whenever they determine that a substance added to human or animal food is Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS). The proposal aims to strengthen oversight and increase transparency in how new food ingredients enter the marketplace.
