I believe propofol is a general anesthetic medication, and therefore only used by Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists or anesthesiologists. Small amounts of 10-20 mg can cause apnea; proper resuscitation equipment must be present; and end-tidal CO2 or precordial stethescope utilized to prevent apnea.
