Issue Areas/Comments
I feel that drug companies should be able to market their drugs directly to consumers. The consumers have no way to verify claims made by the drug company and often can't adequately judge the necessity of using one particular drug over another. If the patient does go to the doctor and ask for a specific drug, the doctor may feel pressured to prescribe that drug, even if he or she doesn't feel that it is the best option for the patient. I feel that it should be solely within the doctor's perview to prescribe a drug if it is necessary. The patient doesn't need to ask for a drug - that will bias the recommendation of the doctor. Leave it solely up to the doctors - they can judge whether the benefits outweight the risks much more objectively and informatively than a patient. Please, tkae the drug advertizing off the air. We don't need to see it.
