The government stopped alcohol and cigarette advertising because of the detrimental effects of such products. Any substance that has harmful side effects should be banned from public advertising despite that some of those side effects are noted in the Ad. Most of the data in these drug ads is UNTRUE as to what the 'drug' is good for .... and with the outrageously high statistics of drugs causing death or severe harm due to being prescribed so freely and without all the necessary data by physicians, we certainly don't need to encourage people to request those drugs because of false advertisements seen on TV and in magazines. There is no such thing as a 'Chemical Imbalance' that these drugs will fix. The drugs might cover up some of the symptoms of these so-called 'diseases', but there are legitimate deficiencies that cause these same symptoms and it is not from a 'drug deficiency' but rather a mineral or nutritional deficiency that causes such things as insomnia, nervousness, irritability, headaches, etc. There is however a serious risk to anyone taking these drugs to 'cure' them of some fictitious disease when the side effects are often times worse than the symptoms they are trying to get rid of. We don't need more people turning psychotic or homicidal due to side effects from their drug they were prescribed for their 'depression'. If medical doctors would stop offering these dangerous anti-depressants and anti-psychotics to their patients instead of finding out the true cause of the patient's symptoms, they would be upholding their oath of 'first, do no harm'. And where is the government when these drugs are being allowed to be advertised with absolutely no proof that the drugs are safe or effective. There are no guidelines or medical tests to prove any of the claims made by these drugs. Of course, most of the Ads state that what a person is experiencing MAY be caused by a chemical imbalance. But we can then open an entirely new argument as to what other products can be promoted without any proof of their efficacy or safety. I pray that this hearing will result in the truth being exposed on this fraud that has been going on for some time now and that our lawmakers will find their integrity to stand up for what is right and not let the Drug Companies and their drug-pushing pals, the psychiatrists, get away with any more lies. The American people deserve better. They deserve the truth !!!
