Issue Areas/Comments
I am newly diagnosed with celiac disease (4 months). It is very challenging to know what foods are gluten free when shopping in the supermarket. It takes time to call each company to inquire. My next meal is only a few hours away and I have to plan that meal and purchase the proper ingredients so that I do not get sick from ingesting gluten. Gluten-free labeling on food products would enable me to quickly ascertain whether a particular food is acceptable or not in my diet, thereby saving me time and stress. Sometimes, I cannot tell from the ingredient list whether an ingredient contains wheat, rye, barley, oats, or gluten. Clear labeling will assist me in making proper food choices to strengthen my health. GFCO - GF labeling is important to me and my family as I learn to live with celiac disease and its impact on my diet.
