Issue Areas/Comments
While I am appalled at the idea of using cloning at all, I am an advocate of freedom of choice for consumers. As such, my complaint is not that cloned meat and milk will be entering the market. Rather, I take issue with the fact that, at this point, the FDA does not plan to label such food for consumers to make their informed choices. I do not wish to consume such products, even if others do. I deserve to know which products in my markets are from cloned animals. Because of the refusal to label them as such, I will no longer consume dairy products (I am already a vegetarian) should the FDA move forward with their plan not to using a truthful and honest labeling system. It is shameful that, even if the FDAfinds no scientific problem, the ethical dilemmas cloned meat poses for the US population are going ignored.
