Issue Areas/Comments
Any final guidelines regarding use of cloned animals for human consumption should be labeled as such. As a consumer, I have the right to know if the food I eat is 100% God's creation or man made. I have the right to decide whether or not to buy such products. There is absolutely no reason that packaging for cloned food not be labeled that it is cloned (other than the food industry's fear of an educated consumer deciding against purchasing their product). Us individual voters elect our government, not the PAC's and lobbyists that work for the food industry. Your job as a government agency is to act in the best interest of the population as a whole, not a particular segment of industry. DO YOUR JOB! If food made from cloned animals is what us the consumers want, we will buy it. There is no need to conceal from us the true nature of the meat we are eating. If we don't want it, we won't buy it. The choice must be in our hands. We should not be deceived into purchasing cloned meat through the process of not providing clear labels on the packaging. The FDA need to stop being an agent for industry and advocate for the consumer, regardless of which administration occupies the White House.
