Issue Areas/Comments
I am becoming increasingly concerned with the FDA's management of our food/drug industry. Several drugs previously approved and deemed safe by your organization have been recalled in recent months. In my opinion, this indicates that your organization cannot reasonably assure the public that labeling cloned meat is unnecesary. Since your agency is accountable for the safety of the items we consume, we deserve to know the origin/contents of our food. We deserve the opportunity to make informed choices. I suspect, since your policy has been that farmers voluntarily withhold products resulting from cloned animals, we've already had these items introduced into our food supply. Your agency stance that consuming cloned meat is no different than consuming traditional meat is supercilious. This affects more than just our meat supply. Any item containing animal by-products (gelatin, milk..) will be affected. Give us the option to choose. Please require labeling of products made from cloned animals.
