I find it morally reprehensible and irresponsible of the Food and Drug Administration to disregard the freedom of choice of the American people. Whether or not cloning is scientifically regarded as safe, it is up to the inidividual to decide whether or not they want to partake in the consumption of cloned animals. We are currently allowed to make food choices based on the labeling system of the FDA, i.e. organic versus GMO, why should this option be any different? How much money has the cattle industry provided to avoid the potential labeling of cloned food? My guess is billions. And why--because they know if given the choice, consumers will reject the cloned options. The FDA is responsible for alerting and protecting people from health risks--no matter how insignificant. It is the duty of the FDA to propose a labeling system for any consummable item not naturally created.
