Issue Areas/Comments
The majority of Americans are against cloning and to introduce "cloned food supplies" into the food supply industry without proper labeling is WRONG! To allow products created from cloned animals onto the shelves of our grocery stores is one issue, and the proper labeling of the items is a second. I am personally against cloning and would not buy anything acquired from a cloned animal. If certain groups believe in cloning and want to buy those products, then that is their right, but those of us that do not want to purchase those items should have the option to KNOW WHAT WE ARE BUYING. Cloning has not been introduced into society long enough to know the long term effects of consuming the said products and I for one am not willing to be an experiment for the Goverment and the large corporations that want to simply profit from the sale of the products they want to place in the communities. It is all about revenue...those companies know that they will not make money from the sale of the items if they are labeled, therefore, they are asking for the FDA to make it legal for their products to not be identified. Should these items actually make it to the shelves of our grocery stores...LABEL THE PRODUCTS! It is necessary that we know what we are buying and can make that decision on our own. Without choice, you are stepping into peoples personal lives and religious beliefs. We should be allowed to make buying decisions as informed consumers and without a label we are not giving all the information to make a proper decision.
