Issue Areas/Comments
I understand from recent news articles that there may be no consumer disclosure requirements for food products derived from cloned animals. I strongly recommend that the FDA require labeling that identifies ANY cloned animal products, including those derived from offspring of cloned animals. Consumers have a right to make the choice as to whether or not they wish to consume such products, as we do now when we make the choice whether or not to consume organic produce, dairy and meat products. I believe there is a significant portion of the population who would choose not to consume these products, and that these consumer will insist that they be labeled in such a way that identifies them clearly. Despite the FDA's assertions that these products are safe for consumption, I personally would not choose to consume them and should not be forced to do so. Thank you.
