Issue Areas/Comments
I am deeply concerned over the FDA's decision to allow downed animals to be allowed as animal feed. First, this only leads to cruelty. These are sick or injured animals that should be humanely euthanized. I am shocked by pictures and videos I have seen of the treatment of these animals. Secondly, as the owner of a few companion animals, I do not want to have to worry about the food I buy. If anything were to ever happen to my pets, I would be deeply disturbed. I can see this being the subject of future lawsuits if many people have pets die from being fed sick animals. This is a country who loves their pets. If issues start arising from your organization's decision, I can only imagine what will happen. Please look more deeply into this matter. Thank you.
