Once again the FDA is failing in its charter to protect the citizenry of the USA and instead is catering to a special interest group - namely, the meat industry! I don't want my pets eating meat from sick or downed animals any more than I want to eat it! Nor do I want toxic meat to find its way into my body through the animals to which it was fed! I also want our government to STOP CONDONING CRUELTY!!! Even though many animals are raised for food, they should be treated with compassion and caring until the very end - they are, after all, sentient beings with intelligence and feelings. A society is judged by the way it treats others - both human and animal. By allowing the use of downed animals in ANY food, the FDA is removing any incentive for those involved in any facet of the meat industry to take care of their animals. DO NOT EVER REMOVE THE BAN ON USING DOWNED ANIMALS IN ANY TYPE OF FOOD!!
