Comments for FDA General
1. General Comments I own a health food store in Texas. I appreciate how the DSHEA act passed in 1994 improved my customers' access to information and supplements and also increased their protection against unsafe products and false advertising. I believe increased legislative authority by the FDA is totally unnecessary and would change entirely the positive effects brought about by the adoption of DSHEA. The FDA already has the authority to seize dietary supplements that pose a significant risk without any new legislation. Dr. Jane Henney, former FDA commissioner, has stated before congress that she believes that DSHEA provides the FDA with the necessary legal authority to protect the public. I totally agree with Dr. Henney, strongly support DSHEA, and think that additional legislative authority is unnessary. Sincerely, Jane Porter Kerrville, TX
