Comments for FDA General
1. General Comments I am seeing fewer generic drugs lately. I heard a horror story that drug companies were buying out potential generic manufacturers so they can keep charging a lot for their drugs, using their patents as leverage. I was diagnosed with bipolar 4 years ago. My medicines with ins copay are about $120 a month. It is very hard for my husband and me to pay for these medicines. I could go on disability like most others I have met with my disease, but I don't want to. I have a good job with benefits but the insurance costs a lot, and my drugs cost a lot. I want to do something about the lack of generic drugs. I want to see if there is a bill in Congress that I can get my representatives to vote for, or one they could initiate. I am on the executive committee of the Republican party in my county. It's only one vote but I see some of the people in congress once a month, when they can get to the meetings. Could I possibly ask one of them to draft a bill that would make generic drugs easier to manufacture? Let me know how I can help. Meanwhile, it is getting so tempting to go on disability.
