Comments for FDA General
1. General Comments My concerns are as follows: 1. GE foods are creeping into the mainstream without the public being made sufficiently aware of what's happening. 2. The increase in GE crops is making other growing options difficult or impossible (for example, pollen from GE crops has already pollinated and ruined organic and other open pollinated crops). It is not right to wreck the alternatives, particularly since this genetic engineering hasn't been sufficiently tested for safety yet. The majority of the public would be against such practices. 3. If a fraction of the cost of GE research were applied to traditional seed selection methods, seed selection would make giant leaps forward. Largescale bioengineering of food products is unnecessary. The new technology is interesting but potentially dangerous. Less radical methods should be funded and given preference for the nation's foodstuffs, while limited research continues on bioengineering. Thank you.
