Division of Residue Chemistry

Biography

Dr. Hiranthi Jayasuriya is a research chemist with the Division of Residue Chemistry in the Office of Applied Science at FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine. In 1998, she received her PhD in natural products chemistry from the University of Mississippi. She joined FDA as a research chemist in 2008 after working as a senior scientist at Merck Research Laboratories in natural products drug discovery for 16 years. Her primary responsibilities at CVM include conducting and coordinating research in analytical method development for residue analysis in animal tissue and feed.

Research

  • Development of high-resolution mass spectrometric (HRMS) methods for residue analysis
  • Untargeted analysis by HRMS
  • Development of HRMS guidances
