Special Agent Catherine A. Hermsen became the Acting Director of FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations (OCI) on January 22, 2017, having served as OCI’s Deputy Director since October 2, 2016.
 
Prior to her appointment as Deputy Director, Special Agent (SA) Hermsen served for two years as Special Agent in Charge of OCI’s Kansas City Field Office, which encompasses responsibility for OCI activities in 11 Midwestern states. Ms. Hermsen served before that as Assistant Special Agent in Charge for four years in the same office.
 
SA Hermsen began her law enforcement career in 1987 as a special agent with the Immigration and Naturalization Service (now Homeland Security Investigations) in Denver, Colorado. 
 
In November 1992, Ms. Hermsen joined OCI at the Kansas City Field Office and was part of the first graduating class from OCI’s Special Agent Training Program.
