The Global Engagements Team (GET), under the Office of Global Diplomacy and Partnerships (OGDP), located at Headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, works closely with FDA’s regulatory counterparts in Canada, Asia-Pacific (excluding China, India and Central Asia), Africa and the Middle East to form global partnerships to help ensure the quality and safety of imported FDA regulated products. In addition, GET serves as the agency’s lead for policy development and coordination with multi- and plurilateral organizations, such as the World Health Organization and its regional offices or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

Similar to other OGPS foreign offices, GET develops and executes agency-wide engagement efforts with foreign counterpart regulatory authorities throughout the regions, both directly and through their embassies in Washington D.C. and with U.S. Government officials on matters affecting FDA. This includes providing country-specific expertise on issues affecting a full range of FDA-regulated products, strengthening regulatory systems globally through multilateral engagements and collaborating on multinational issues.

FDA’s liaison to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, also resides in GET. The PEPFAR Liaison serves as the FDA point of contact with all outside entities in coordinating Agency activities dealing with PEPFAR, including those associated with drug firms seeking to participate in the expedited review process for antiretroviral (ARV) therapies for use in the PEPFAR focus countries.
