The FDA Office of the Chief Counsel is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as the office's eDiscovery coordinator. This position offers complex, intellectually engaging work, substantial responsibility and autonomy, and the satisfaction of working with highly motivated colleagues who are dedicated to integrity, excellence, respect, and enjoying their work. FDA touches the daily life of citizens by regulating about 25 percent of the U.S. consumer economy to ensure product safety and effectiveness and public health protection.

The eDiscovery Coordinator:

  • serves as the lead attorney for planning, managing, and administering the office's eDiscovery program, establishing standard operating procedures and guidelines, and providing technical support on discovery, litigation, and other information technology matters that concern the identification, collection, processing, review, analysis, production, and preservation of records.
  • works with litigation attorneys to analyze the eDiscovery and litigation needs of each case, assist with and/or lead the effort to efficiently, thoroughly, and accurately preserve, search, collect, and produce responsive data, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
  • serves as the liaison to the Department of Justice and other FDA and Department of Health and Human Services components on eDiscovery issues and cases and works with other agency staff to develop FDA-wide guidelines and procedures to ensure that the agency's preservation and production obligations are met and litigation holds are appropriately implemented.
  • works with FDA's Office of Information Management and Technology to procure and implement use of appropriate technology to meet eDiscovery needs.

A record of strong academic achievement and technical knowledge, along with outstanding communication, writing, and analytical skills are essential. Positions are located at FDA headquarters in Silver Spring, MD; salaries range from $79,720 (GS-12) to $145,629 (GS-14) with promotion potential to $161,900 (GS-15), plus an excellent benefits package.
