ORA on the Frontlines: Selina Mata

Selina Mata

I love my job. I get the opportunity to work with talented individuals who come to work each day focused on achieving FDA’s mission. As a consumer safety officer, my job provides me the opportunity to work on different facets of the Foreign Supplier Verification Program to ensure consumer safety with imported goods. I see the impact the work we do has on public health. Consumers come into contact with FDA-regulated imported goods every day and it is our responsibility to ensure those products are safe and effective.

My greatest hope for the future is that we emerge from this pandemic kinder and more appreciative of one another- that we feel more inclined to smile at strangers we may meet and that we recognize how resilient we are when we work together.
