Director, Office of Medical Policy

 

Description of Duties:
FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) is searching for a Director, Office of Medical Policy (OMP). The Office of Medical Policy currently has over 150 employees.  The Office fosters an interdisciplinary approach to medical policy development, implementation, and coordination through collaboration with other disciplines, program areas, and FDA Centers in a manner that enhances integration of evolving science and policy into drug development, regulatory review, and post market surveillance processes to ensure safe and effective drugs are available to the American Public.
 
The Office Director serves as the driving force in the initiation and creation of medical policy in CDER. He/she provides support and guidance in the development and the implementation of CDER’s medical policy guidelines and initiatives by maintaining the overall momentum and the day to day management of the Office of Medical Policy (OMP) and serves as an advisor to the Director, CDER, on medical policy issues of national and international importance.
 
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess an M.D. and/or Ph.D. in a hard science.
 
CDER is seeking recognized scientific leaders with experience creating and developing medical policy. Additionally, candidates should have legal and/or regulatory experience. Highly qualified candidates will have experience with management, outreach, and communication. They should have strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to think and plan strategically as they will set the course for short- and long-term medical policy at CDER. Multi-disciplinary experience is a plus. Candidates must be able to handle long-term projects and adapt to ambiguity.
 
Location: White Oak, Maryland
