How long do "Personnel Responsibilities," "Technique Charts," and "Procedures for Safety and Protection of Patients & Personnel" records have to be maintained?

The purpose of the quality assurance records is to demonstrate that the quality assurance requirements are met. Records of "Personnel Responsibilities" (and employee qualifications to meet the assigned responsibilities), "Technique Charts" (and the other records on mammography technique and procedures), and "Procedures for Safety and Protection of Patients and Personnel", change infrequently and irregularly. These records must be kept until the first inspection after each update and until any questions from that inspection have been resolved. Once this has been done, the updated record must be retained to show that the requirement continues to be met, however, the old record can be discarded, if the facility wishes.

In contrast to the quality assurance records, specific time periods have been established for retention of the quality control records, for which new information is collected on a required schedule.
