Must a facility be certified if its mammography units are used exclusively for training purposes?

Policy Guidance Help System logo

It depends on what the training subjects are. If the training program involves the examination of patients, rather than using only simulations or phantoms, the facility would be considered a mammography facility and must be certified. If no human subjects are ever exposed with this equipment, then the facility would not be considered a mammography facility and would not be subject to the requirements of MQSA.
