PDC Activity Since 2013 RFA

Under the five year cycle of the 2013 RFA, a Pediatric Device Consortia (PDC) grant recipient may receive up to five years of budgetary support. Although we have not competed the grant in the past few years, we will continue to support and monitor the activities of our funded consortia.

During fiscal year 2017, the FDA's Office of Orphan Products Development awarded $6 million dollars to seven consortia.  In contrast, last fiscal year FDA awarded $4 million and in fiscal year 2015, FDA awarded $3.535 million to eight consortia.  In fiscal year 2014, FDA awarded $3.3 million to support eight consortia and in fiscal year 2013, a total of $3.6 million was awarded to seven consortia (supporting a total of nine consortia).

Current legislation authorizes the program’s continuation through the year 2022. FDA anticipates posting another RFA for PDC grants soon. Until the RFA is published, please read the Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for details of the upcoming RFA.
