Orphan Products Natural History Grants Program

The Office of Orphan Products Development (OOPD) is proud to announce the launch of a new grant program to fund targeted natural history studies for rare diseases. OOPD plans to fund approximately $2M in FY 2017 to award 2-5 grants for natural history studies targeted on expediting the development of products for these rare conditions.

The goal of the Orphan Products Natural History Grants Program is to support studies that advance rare disease medical product development through characterization of the natural history of rare diseases/conditions, identification of genotypic and phenotypic subpopulations, and development and/or validation of clinical outcome measures, biomarkers and/or companion diagnostics.
