FDA Announces Dietetics and Nutrition Workshop

The U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has scheduled a Dietetic and Nutrition Workshop for Tuesday, February 2, 2010 from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, at the FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), Harvey W. Wiley Building, 5100 Paint Branch Parkway, College Park, Maryland.  The Workshop is designed for dietetic interns, students and faculty in dietetics and nutrition, and practicing dietitians and nutritionists.

The purpose of the Workshop is to communicate FDA’s nutrition and regulatory activities that are relevant to the practice of dietetics and nutrition. The following is a tentative list of topics: Infant Formula, Medical Foods, Food Allergy, FDA Codex Alimentarius activities, Food Labeling Health Claims and Nutrient Content Claims, Consumer Research on Use of Food Label by Young Adults, Dietary Supplements, and the FDA Nutrition Initiative

The Workshop format will consist of presentations, case studies, and question and answer sessions. Six Continuing Professional Education credits have been requested for this event.
